A hint of Animal Print For Autumn Winter 2024
For as long as I can remember, the idea of a hint of leopard has been such a fashion-must for me. Maybe it was a photograph of Brigitte Bardot, that I saw on television as a girl. Maybe It was that Thanksgiving episode on Gossip Girl, where in the flashback Serena runs across a New York street, Carrie Bradshaw Style, in the coolest leopard print coat (or so I thought at the time, as a 16 year old high schooler just outside of Munich). Fact is, that from the glamour of 1940s Hollywood to the rebellious spirit of rock ’n’ roll, leopard and animal print has always been around.
I then acquired a rabbit fur leopard print coat at a vintage store when I moved to London, which has been my go-to every Autumn until I fell pregnant and my arms no longer fit into the delicate silk lining.
Needless to say I am delighted to see animal print back officially for the upcoming Season, brands including Alaïa, Versace, Isabel Marant and Nina Ricci all embraced the wild print, and so I have put together a selection of my favourite picks for Fall Winter.
The Toteme Wide Shaft leopard-print calf hair knee boots are made from leopard-print calf hair with squared toes and wide shafts, and are fabulous with jeans, leggings, skirts and dresses alike. Definitely on my Wishlist for this Season!
Obsessed with the Dodo Bar Or Kusha lace-trimmed leopard-print silk-satin maxi dress, which is curt from fluid silk satin and has a v neck line, which is outlined with a delicate eyelash lace. Add a black oversized blazer for an evening look, or a cosy oversized knit and boots for a cool day time outfit.
I actually love the Wolford Josey tights for this Season, and feel like they give a little bit of Upper East Side to everyday dressing. They are comfortable and warm, and I feel that you can show as much or as little print as you wish, by wearing a longer or shorter dress or skirt to cover, or over the knee boots.
For as long as I can remember I’ve added a new pair of Golden Goose sneakers to my wardrobe every Fall Season- they are comfortable, easy to wear and style and come in great colours and shapes. The Super-Star Sabot distressed leopard-print calf hair slip-on sneakers give a hint of leopard, whilst still remaining casual and cool. Love them!
The Toteme belt is a chic and subtle way to incorporate the re-emerging leopard-print trend into any outfit. It's been made in Italy from tactile pony hair and has an open-ended silver-tone buckle to adjust the fit.
The Zimmermann Illustration leopard-print wool and silk-blend twill coat is light and stylish, and I love adding it to an otherwise basic and simple look, to pick it up a little bit.
I think there is nothing more thrilling than an autumnal look with an added animal flair- and I have taken it upon myself to head to my nail appointment this morning in sweats and that infamous vintage coat, honestly really feeling myself for the first time in god knows how long.
As always, if there is anything you’re loving, get in touch via your usual chat based media platform, or through email. I’m also always available for an animal print chit chat over a cup of steaming pumpkin spice… just sayin’.
