Vintage Jewellery to add to your Collection
There is something so chic about teaming a brand new coat, or a clean cut summer dress with vintage jewellery. It almost reminds me of being a little girl again, collecting treasures in my bedroom, in the form of my mothers 80s costume jewellery. Today I have a jewellery box dedicated to vintage gems that I have collected over the years. Some pieces I found shopping in Soho in New York, some in London, some online. I’ve had a vintage necklace shipped to me on a work trip, because I couldn’t wait to wear it!
The polished faux pearl in the center of each earring exudes elegance and class, while the interlocking CC logo is a subtle nod to the brand's luxury heritage. These earrings are from 1994 and a testament to Coco Chanel's impeccable taste and timeless style.
I mean… These clip-on earrings honestly go with absolutely everything and anything, and to say I’m totally in love is an understatement. They really remind me of vivid memories of my mother when we were out for dinner in the 90s. We lived in Germany, so perhaps her fashion was slightly delayed, and she wore high waisted light blue denim with a white oversized shirt tucked in. Her jewellery was always bold and gold, and she’d be wearing simple loafers or white trainers if we were grabbing a bite at the Yacht Club in the summer.
Today I would wear them just like my mother did; dressed down with a pair of jeans and a tee shirt or chunky cashmere. I would team them with a pair of New Balance sneakers or even lounge bottoms if I’m grabbing lunch with my family on the weekends. How cool are these with a baseball cap or a high pony?
They just somehow don’t make them like this anymore. The vintage 80s gold chain necklaces are such a cool addition to very simple outfits for Spring. For me, it’s the time where I like to show a tiny bit more skin, and sometimes opt for a v-neck tee or a blouse without the thick scarves and coat layers covering me up. That’s when gold statement jewellery for me makes the most sense. I also love layering this with a few fun chokers (Roxanne First does a great diamond tennis necklace in multicoloured stones).
There is something about a vintage gold chain Chanel belt that you just can’t replicate. I have been searching for new Chanel (and other designers) chain belts, and can never really find one that is perfect like this vintage version. On days (long gone now, due to pregnancy and postpartum) where I wan’t to give a basic outfit a little bit of a lift, I would add a gold chain belt around my waist. Whether it’s teamed with a silk slip dress, a jersey tank dress a la Carrie Bradshaw or a white shirt dress on holiday, I feel this belt is a real wardrobe staple, and I would honestly recommend it as a great tool to accessorise to anyone!
I love to imagine the type of woman that this exact chunky gold bracelet was originally designed for in Paris. I think this is such a cool piece to wear, and what I love about chunky gold vintage jewellery is that you most likely won’t get anyone else wearing the same piece.
There is something so sexy I find about gold vintage jewellery worn with summer dresses or cool jeans and a tee shirt to go out in, in the summer months. Maybe it’s that it reminds me so much of the television show I had on repeat in my London apartment before I met my husband…
It’s so easy to add a vintage piece to your existing arm party, and make it a little bit different and unique. I would personally team this bangle with some coloured diamonds, maybe a coloured tennis bracelet, and some link chains.
For me these vintage treasures are so much fun, and make me so happy when playing around with outfits and looks, and accessorising my usual day-to-day jewellery. I love to keep some treasures tucked away for my daughter to discover when she’s a little bit older, and I can’t wait to see how she will be styling some of the things I’ve so carefully curated over the years.
