The Essential Coat

Living in the British countryside, it is never fully summer, like we may know it from Europe. The sun might be shining, and the flowers are most certainly blooming in full glory, but there is always a slight chance of a turn of the elements. Rain is never too far around the corner, and neither is a slight breeze and the signature gloom that is associated with the United Kingdom. With this in mind, I felt I needed a thick, wool and cashmere knit to team with a sun dress in the Summer, and wear over jeans and a tee shirt in the Spring and Autumn. I was looking at options from The Row and Toteme, which felt a little bit too precious for the Cotswolds, looking for something I could just throw on, that isn’t fitted or sized, but keeps me warm and cosy when I want to be, and looking put together when I choose to style it that way. And so, the byFionaWood Essential Coat was born.

Hand made and hand dyed by Buddhist Monks in Nepal, the coat has a certain weight to it that makes it the ideal travel piece, to throw on when at the airport or on planes, yachts and even in transit in the car.

I have one in Pebble by the sofa downstairs, that I like to snuggle into when sitting down to relax or watch a film with the family- this really is the ultimate cosy piece, I personally love wearing even just around the house.

Sustainability is important to me, and my brand.

Ethically making and sourcing products has always been vital to me, and a foundation for byFionaWood as a business. The knits are all made by hand, and mostly made to order, so we don’t add to unnecessary landfill.

The Essential Coat comes in Whipped Cream, Jet Black, Midnight, British Peony, Periwinkle, Pebble and Caramel, and is available to purchase through the by Fiona Wood team on your favourite conversational commerce platform.
